Islam

This unit covers the rise of Islam and the history of the Muslim empires from about 600 to 1500 AD. This study is important as Islam is one of the world's major religions, and its members have had a significant impact on society, science, language, and the arts.

Our early focus will be those who settled on the Arabian Peninsula, which contains the current countries of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAR. Students will learn the geography of the area as well as what the early Arabs were like.

We then move on to Muhammad and the introduction of Islam to the Arabian Peninsula. We will learn how it spread, and how that spread influenced the lands it moved to.
